The College of Management’s Department of Finance offers diverse elective courses for high school students, promoting youth financial literacy and helping them build essential money-management skills.
Professor Mei-Hua Liao guides students in learning finance through strategic financial games, while the department collaborates with several high schools to strengthen students’ understanding of financial concepts and risk awareness.

Department Chair Ying-Li Lin noted that surveys show over 40% of students aged 15–18 have never taken a finance-related course in school. High schoolers may understand basic money concepts, but often lack awareness of financial risks. Professional guidance helps them develop healthy spending habits, understand saving and long-term investing, and build sound financial mindsets.

Professor Kuei-Yuan Wang, who plans the elective curriculum, emphasized that although teens are interested in finance, they often rely on online information that may be inaccurate. Early exposure to structured finance courses improves their judgment and ability to avoid poor financial decisions.

With courses covering personal finance, investment, and AI applications in finance, the department brings practical, life-based learning into classrooms, helping students enhance financial literacy and reduce future societal risks.
